All Year Long. What follows below are examples of city-wide events that affected all travelers. It does not include individual travelers throughout each year who have covered events (illness, medical emergencies, general flight delays, etc). Even if you're not traveling during the times affected below, other circumstances could arise in which you would benefit from protecting your vacation. COVID-19. During the COVID-19 pandemic, guests who purchased travel insurance prior to the pandemic being labeled by the World Health Organization were provided coverage. Once the pandemic was official, it was considered "foreseeable." Travel Insurance helps protect against the unforeseeable, and it's the very possibility of unforeseen circumstances that could threaten your vacation plans. January 16, 2022. Winter storm Izzy shut the area down for multiple days with snow and ice. Guests were forced to extend their stay or leave early due to the severe winter event. Please consider protecting your vacation investment!

August 17, 2021. A strong summer storm created unexpected landslides and washed out access roads throughout the region. A guest visiting one of our homes was happy to have travel insurance when she found the roads leading to her rental flooded out by the storm. Locals mentioned to her that access may be unavailable for weeks to come based on similar experiences in the past. While this event disrupted plans, her vacation rental expenses were protected by travel insurance. Please consider protecting your vacation investment!

2021 Winter Season. The 2021 winter season was significantly snowier and icier than prior winters. For the first month of the year, every weekend had a weather event that impacted travel, and caused numerous guest stays to be interrupted, delayed, extended, or canceled. September 2, 2019. Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas and impacted the east coast from Florida to the Carolinas. Due to the size of this storm and its uncertain track, mandatory evacuations were enacted in Florida, the Georgia Coast, the South Carolina coast, and the North Carolina coast. Many flights were disrupted to-and-from the affected areas. Guests who were already on vacation for Labor Day found themselves needing to extend their stays unexpectedly, while at the same time evacuees from the affected areas were seeking accommodations. December 9, 2018. Winter Storm Diego (called "Snowpocalypse 2018" in Asheville) brought between 9" and 18" of snow to the Asheville area. As this storm moved across the country, many flights were canceled. Roads quickly became impassable as the snow fell in the mountains. The area was placed under a state of emergency, and many back roads remained impassable for a week after the storm. Please consider protecting your vacation investment!

October 10, 2018. Hurricane Michael impacted the Florida panhandle and continued straight for the Carolinas. Tropical storm warnings were placed into effect around Asheville and many flights to/from the Carolinas were affected or canceled by the storm. Please consider protecting your vacation investment!

September 10, 2018. Hurricane Florence threatened North and South Carolina with a direct hit. Multiple state-wide States of Emergency were declared, and many flights were canceled to and from the area. Buncombe County (the county Asheville is in) declared a State of Emergency as well in preparation for potential high winds, rain, and flooding. The storm missed Asheville, but canceled flights and fear of the potential storm ruined many vacations. Please consider protecting your vacation investment!

May 29, 2018. Tropical Storm Alberto brought heavy rains to the WNC area and flooded Biltmore Village where one of our rentals is located, along with many low-lying roads. The flooding generated a state of emergency. Please consider protecting your vacation investment!

December 8, 2017. A surprise snowstorm paralyzed the city. Many homes were not accessible, and local businesses and schools shut down for the day. 17% of guests arriving for the weekend purchased travel insurance. The 83% who did not had no recourse and either tried to brave the snowy conditions or stayed home and forfeited their rent. Please consider protecting your vacation investment!

November, 2016. The "Party Rock Fire" wildfire near the towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock generated evacuations and threatened many homes and businesses, affecting some of our guests.
