Hurricane Helene Reopening
Tourism is a vital part of Western North Carolina’s economy. That is why one of the best ways you can help our area recover is to plan a trip returning to our mountains! There are many towns (see above list) that are open and ready for visitors. The small, local businesses in these recovered areas rely on tourism to survive and thrive. Many of these businesses are already hurting from the lack of tourism during the fall season and need your help in the coming months to recover financially! The Blue Ridge Mountains are still just as beautiful as ever. As of 11/04/24 the following parks and attractions have reopened sections to visitors to enjoy with new openings being added weekly:
Asheville Skatepark
Beaucatcher Overlook Park
North Carolina Arboretum
Chimney Rock Skate Park
Pisgah National Forest
River Arts District
North Carolina Arboretum
Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS)
Asheville Pinball Museum
Thomas Wolfe Memorial

Is the Biltmore still open?
I have an upcoming trip to Asheville and am told they have a Boil Water Advisory. What’s that?
A boil water advisory is enacted when an event occurs, like flooding from a hurricane, in which a city’s water quality has degraded to a level unsafe for consumption unless first boiled. Tap water in a boil water advisory could contain contamination from bacteria or other organisms and may look discolored, cloudy, and/or have a chlorine odor. This water should only be used for flushing toilets, laundry, and bathing for those without open wounds and who are not immunocompromised. It is important to avoid swallowing the water when bathing, therefore small children should be closely monitored or given sponge baths. Washing hands is also OK, although it is recommended that an alcohol disinfectant is used afterwards. People should only use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning dishes. Boiled water refers to water that has been brought to a rolling boil for 1 full minute, then allowed to cool. Do not give pets water to drink without first boiling. Guests staying in homes under a boil water advisory should consider using disposable plates, cups, bowls, and flatware to be safe.
How can you help our area and business?
