Great place!
Great place! Our mini family reunion of 10 members ages six through 85 all enjoyed the location, the communal spaces both on the main floor and in the basement. Had everything we could need, including a well-outfitted kitchen open to the dining room and living room spaces. Lots of great outdoor porch areas, and close to Black Mountain and Asheville as advertised.

I only wish our stay was longer!
I only wish our stay was longer! This house was perfect for our family of brothers, sisters, cousins & parents to get together and enjoy the Asheville area. The house slept all of us comfortably and the amenities for outstanding. A beautiful deck for early morning coffees and late afternoon relaxing. I would surely consider staying here again.

Overall fantastic stay!
The game room was great, the whole house was clean, well appointed, and best of all soundproof for the adults. Everyone loved the outdoor space and views the best. Overall fantastic stay

Everything is as advertised and in great condition.
This is a fantastic property. Everything is as advertised and in great condition. We had plenty of space for our group of seven adults each sleeping in their own bed. This house would work great for a couple of families - 3 comfortable king/queen suites plus 2 nice bunk room suites for lots of kids. Lots of sitting and gathering areas inside and out. The location is great. It is very convenient to the town of Black Mountain, but you are essentially on a private, quiet sub-peak of the mountain looking over the valley from the back deck. Hoping to come back for a vacation with my family soon!

This place was fabulous and huge!
This place was fabulous and huge. The property is on top of the hill, so the drive up to the home is steep and tight, but it gives total privacy and no neighbors can be seen. Though not fenced in, our dogs really enjoyed the yard space and we didn’t have to worry about them bothering anyone. We did see some bears, though they were skittish and ran away fast. Floors, bathrooms, and linens were spotless, some of the best we’ve experienced with Airbnb. It’s just a few minutes away from downtown Black Mountain, groceries, and hiking so the location was great for us. I’d definitely stay again, though I’d book through Carolina Mornings directly next time.

Our 2 families of 5 had a wonderful stay.
Our 2 families of 5 had a wonderful stay. The lodge is spacious, we were all able to find our own space! The kids slept in the basement and enjoyed the air hockey and the hot tub. One family slept on the main floor. The other family slept on the second floor. We cooked and ate at the lodge and also out at restaurants. It was convenient having an Ingles at the bottom of the mountain. Thank you for sharing your lodge with us.

That was very cool. House was very clean!
The place was amazing! The location was perfect. My husband saw a bear in the driveway! That was very cool. House was very clean! There were only a couple of things we did not like. There is no fire pit or bonfire area. They said it’s a community ordinance. A cabin in the mountains is a must! The listing needs to say that. The kitchen needs different pots and frying pans and definitely a griddle. We had a heck of a time trying to make breakfast every day while we were there. The pans are terrible. And you definitely need more than 1 hand towel and dishcloths. Overall, the place was great location was perfect.

Absolutely Beautiful
Perfect family retreat. Beautiful surroundings. Lodge and location great. Nice layout, tons of seating in and out, for conversation. Playroom is great. We understand well water like septic systems, require a little understanding. Bathing has to be reserved/assigned. One person can shower at a time and you can't run the D/W or the washer. Be mindful of what you flush. NP for us, the location was well worth it. We used the hot tub and grill with NP. Beds, TVs, AC, all good. Towels not fancy but fine. Kitchen was basically well stocked with plenty of mugs, glasses, utensils, cookie sheets and OK flatware. The scratched IKEA dinnerware should be replaced. Four different coffee makers. The K-cup machine, which is our preferred, was one cup at a time, and slow. There was a blender, lots of plastic pitchers, an electric mixer, cheese grater, strainer, measuring cup, plenty of cookie sheets and utensils. Serving containers were limited; one nice large salad bowl, two ceramic rectangular casserole dishes, one ceramic soufflé bowl and one platter. I'm a cook and I missed having more mixing bowls but there were three large stainless ones. There are only 3 pots and 2 skillets. I managed. D/W was unstable and needs attention, but works. In two of the walk-in closets, there were desks and lamps. So funny, I had to take a photo. My son-in-law, greatly appreciated the private work space. One of the smoke alarms started beeping so my husband called the after-hours phone number and got a quick repair. I had a question about using the Mountain Discovery Pass at the Biltmore so I called the management office only to find that it isn't open to help with that on weekends. Do your homework. Asheville close and loads of outdoor areas to explore. Little trick in directions. On the last stretch of the drive to the house, there is a Y, go left or you end up in someone else's driveway. Not well marked. Best of all, WE SAW BLACK BEAR, once near the lodge and three times crossing roads. So cool, but don't feed or approach. Pretty sure they live in peace with the community. Also saw wild turkey. Saw the owner once working on the road not far from the house. Nice, quiet guy. Book now for family fun. Great place!

Aunties and Nieces
Wonderful property - you feel away from it all, when in actuality, you are close to the fun city of Black Mountain and the Ingles grocery store. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay.

Special Home
Spent a weekend here with a group of friends and we had an amazing time!!! The house was absolutely beautiful!!! The views are breathtaking, the rooms are super spacious and there are so many small details in the house that make it so special. The kitchen was super well stocked with equipment- just know you need to get the cone filters for the coffee because the carafe for the other one is missing. The living room was a great place to hang out. The game room was awesome :) We all enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the mornings. My only downsides were that the water pressure was very low and the hot water didn't always last through 6 showers (which is admittedly a lot). Also, no outside fires allowed. We had a great time. Overall it was an amazing property and we highly recommend!!!!

"Not a single detail was overlooked - we loved the true cabin feel of living on a mountain. The house was exactly as advertised. With 2 families including 5 teenagers, the house was perfect. 5 Master bedroom suites certainly gave everyone their privacy. Plenty to do; great basement entertainment area with natural wood fireplace; quiet upstairs sitting area with gas fireplace; spacious kitchen table with comfortable seating for 10. Not a single detail overlooked. We definitely hope to be back in the future. We had a very positive experience with Carolina Mornings and this property - we would recommend. 5-star cleanliness, furnishings and bedding - kitchen was well stocked."

Positive experience with Carolina Mornings and rental property - would recommend. 5-star cleanliness and bedding - kitchen well stocked."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at High Top Mountain Lodge. We loved the home and floor plan! The floor plan was designed perfectly for our large group of nine. Loved that the bedrooms have king beds and full bathrooms. Each bedroom having its own bathroom was a huge plus! Everyone had their own! Loved the outdoor furniture too! We enjoyed a lot of hiking, paddleboarding, shopping and dining out. We also enjoyed the boat tour at Lake Lure. Thank you for letting us rent this beautiful home for the week. The scenic drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway were really pretty. We were blessed with quality family time! Overall a 5-star experience - we would definitely recommend Carolina Mornings and High Top Mountain Lodge to friends or colleagues!"

We arrived as the snow was falling!! Our family vacation hopes were to find snow. Some of our crew is from the NC coast so we rarely see it .... however our coastal home also saw a few flakes this weekend. This home is very welcoming! It is the perfect fit for our group.

"You know it's a special place when 20somethings and 60somethings equally have fun. A lovely house and property. We discovered hiking trails in Montreat, and ate at Trailhead 3 times! Our waiter Brad was outstanding. The beds are comfy and the kitchen well stocked. Celebrating a milestone birthday weekend with family is the best and the house played her part beautifully!"

"An absolutely beautiful home and setting. We had 10 adults and everyone was comfortable, each couple having a king size bed and private bath. Sitting on the back balcony every morning for coffee was such a peaceful way to get the day started. All the necessities were available and in place and we all loved the 10 seat circular table in the Dining Room with a Lazy Susan in the middle. It was very conducive to conversation during meals and games. Fabulous getaway. Great job by the staff having everything in place when we arrived making it feel like our home away from home. "

"What a great place for a college reunion! We had great weather and the accommodations were perfect. Super lodging. Everything perfect. Good restaurants Biscuit Company for breakfast. Tako Sushi for dinner. Hope to come back. This was perfect for us 4 couples - 53 yr Reunion. Very comfy, roomy and homey. Enjoyable time together! Reuniting with college friends in the Blue Ridge Mountains has been at a minimum memorable. And to have such comfortable and pleasant accommodations made it extra special. We thoroughly enjoyed Black Mountain restaurants, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the art galleries along the Parkway and in Black Mountain. Nice to see the daffodils poking their heads up."

"The house was clean, planned to accommodate large groups perfectly, and beautifully located. The view was magnificent. Hikes, groceries, restaurants, and shops close by. Asheville 15 to 20 minutes away, and a very easy drive. You can stay here and do it all. We will return with this group and others. "

The cabin was beautiful and perfectly designed to support multiple families traveling together. The wood throughout is amazing! The different seating areas and game areas were perfectly balanced; our group came together in different combinations in the various different areas through our stay. We never felt like we were intruding upon one another's space. Love the huge kitchen table that seated all 10 of us together! Can't say enough about this beautiful cabin!

"A wonderful 30th birthday for Ryan. We stayed in the first night (tried looking for bears) then hit up downtown Asheville for breweries. We had dinner at Curate. It was excellent!!! Thank you for your wonderful home!!! Perfect group mountain getaway This is the PERFECT house for groups! The beds were all big, and the master bed is SUPER cozy, we didn't want to leave. The jetted tub in the bath was a nice plus too! The kitchen has all the utensils you need to cook and the views are stunning! There is both a wood and gas burning fireplace, that we took advantage of plus a great hot tub. The only downside was there is no outdoor firepit, but it would have been too cold anyways. Lots of games to play, plenty of seating and just overall exactly what you want in a log cabin. Warning, the road up is super steep And narrow I was nervous to drive it, but we made it. We definitely plan on staying here again and I cannot thank the owners enough for letting us stay!"

"This is obviously a fairly new home and very nice. We had 11 total, 2 infants, 3 adult couples, 2 teenagers, and another adult single. Everyone had adequate privacy and the common areas were large enough to have the whole group together for social time and meals. We had everything we needed to prepare meals if when we chose to do so. The town of Black Mountain is a gem. Several nice little restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops. There's some shopping for ""those types"", but the easy 25 minute trip to Asheville allows for almost unlimited restaurants, breweries, and shopping (for ""those types""). The final ascent to the lodge on Pearson Dr. is not for the meek, but take your time, slow down for the speed bumps, and you'll be fine. We would return to this area and this property for another vacation in the mountains."

"So thankful to be able to spend Christmas in your beautiful home!! We saw one bear from the basement window. We snowed tubbed at Hawks Nest. Went to Christmas at the Biltmore. Saw the lights at the NC Arboretum, and played games nonstop!! We made so many memories in your home and we are looking forward to coming back!! Many Thanks! "

"High Top Mountain Lodge was perfect for a bunch of 44 yr old girls who are old high school friends! The house and the surrounding property were neat and clean. We loved sitting on the porch, soaking in the hot tub while drinking wine, then warming up by one of the two fireplaces. Our group loves a round table (we always request them in restaurants) so we were thrilled to find one in the kitchen. A few of us went into the close and convenient town of Black Mountain to roam around and have lunch. Clean, convenient, comfortable, and spacious - everything we look for in a vacation home. "

The property was perfect. So spacious yet cozy. We loved having our own bathrooms and the king beds in each room was great. The views from all porches were beautiful. Everything that we needed was there. The lodge still had that new wood look and smell. So clean. Two fireplaces and TVs in every room. And the game room. Just wish there was a fire pit. Will definitely return.
