Very well-appointed rental.
Very well-appointed rental. The furnishings were nice, and the kitchen had all of the essentials. The space was overall small but very comfortable for my husband and our two dogs. Great location, loved our stay at Black Mountain and all the surrounding mountains.

The main floor room was very attractive and we enjoyed sitting out on the back deck.
The main floor room was very attractive and we enjoyed sitting out on the back deck. The wood rockers on the deck were very nice. An armchair or recliner would be a very nice addition to the main room, instead of the hardwood chair or two straight-back kitchen table chairs.

It felt like you were tucked away in the woods for a cabin getaway.
it felt like you were tucked away in the woods for a cabin getaway but within walking distance of a couple of restaurants.

This little cabin was so quaint, charming, clean and in a great spot!
This little cabin was so quaint, charming, clean and in a great spot! We loved listening to the creek from the balcony, and the neighborhood trail was a bonus for walking the pups. It rained the whole time we were in Black Mountain, but we made the best of it. The treehouse in the woods was a cozy way to sit through the rain. But the easy access to I-40 and proximity to Asheville was perfect! We recommend eating at The Pure & Proper in downtown Black Mountain. So yummy!

We all loved the cabin!
We all loved the cabin! The path to the cabin is definitely one of my favorite parts, it is very peaceful. I definitely recommend this to a family with one or two kids because adults get the basement and kids would love the loft. I highly recommend the restaurants near here. Thank you for letting us stay!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The setting is beautiful, the cabin is rustic yet functional, and the location is convenient. In addition, the host was very responsive and provided clear instructions for everything. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful and has very nice houses with some good walking trails that we enjoyed.

We loved our overnight stay!
We loved our overnight stay. It was easy to find and in an almost-boutique like setting but cozy and private. The best part was the proximity to some absolutely incredible hiking trails, and after a bath, we walked down to a great little restaurant in the shops at the bottom of the street. Would stay here again.

Really Cool Cabin
Really nice place. The feel of a cabin on a campground in the woods, but really it's adjacent to a small village. Kitchen had all the necessary stuff and then some. Very comfortable! Really cool cabin. Perfect for 2 people. Stayed for a weekend, but we left wishing that we booked more nights!

Great Couples Getaway
The cabin was very cozy. Though it sleeps 4, it’d be quite inconvenient to have more than 2 people since the only bathroom is accessed through the main bedroom downstairs. It is great for a couple’s getaway. We loved it!

Very Secluded
Close to the little village, and to Black Mountain. Very secluded and peaceful, however, there is a walk from the parking area to get to the cottage that should be planned for when packing, or if there is bad weather.

Great Wood Burning Fireplace

We have been staying in the treehouses for years. We love the architecture and the whole concept of Cheshire. Woodpeckers hollow is a very special property.
Jill M from Monteagle, TN - Posted: 9/3/2021
Fairly new build with backwoods cabin vibe so in some ways it’s the best of both worlds. Unique treehouse setup is cool but might not work for some guests. Smaller than we anticipated. Great location and well maintained!
Brian B from Orlando, FL - Posted: 7/15/2021
We have loved the slice of heaven in the trees! Black Mt. and Montreat are also treasures that we didn't know about before. Our golden retriever Beignet fell in love with the porch on the upper balcony! She took in every movement and moment! We took many walks and loved every moment. Many thanks!
Charlene & from New Orleans, LA - Posted: 11/5/2020
This place is amazing. The setting is out of a storybook and the little creek set it up just right. Walked the property daily and was in awe of the beauty. We will definitely book again. Great places to walk dogs. Way better than expected.

It was a great house! We had a very positive experience with Carolina Mornings and this property - we would recommend. 5-star furnishings and bedding - kitchen was well stocked.

Our first time bringing our small children to NC - and Black Mountain was the perfect spot! Their favorite part of the whole trip was exploring the woods & creek around Woodpecker's Hollow! Looking forward to coming back to the area next summer.

We had a great time here in Black Mountain! Wanted a quiet getaway from the city and this was great! So happy we could bring our fur baby too! The fireplace was our favorite part. We spent hours in front of it keeping warm! Thanks for the stay!

"My husband, dog Lilly, and myself came for a long weekend. We enjoyed hiking in Chimney Rock, which is dog friendly. We tasted beer at several breweries. The Burial was our favorite spot for drinks. We had a few delicious dinners, particularly Salsa's, which had all fresh ingredients and wonderful drinks (Mexican/Carribean cuisine). We loved the cabin, perfect amount of space for the three of us. It was nice to have such close access to the little town below as well. The views and privacy were very relaxing."
Kyle F from Huntington, WV - Posted: 10/23/2019
My husband and I came in from Indiana for a long weekend getaway. We really enjoyed the cabin. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog Coco. We did a couple of hiking trails in Montreat and went to a couple of breweries. Our favorite restaurant was Chestnut in Asheville. It was delicious. We explored the Biltmore estate on Monday. It was very impressive. We were glad to have the complimentary ticket through Carolina Mornings. We would definitely recommend this cabin to a friend.

Our 31st wedding anniversary too! Really liked the mountain feel of the cabin (even with roar of motorcycles from road). Great location to get on the Parkway & on to Asheville. Lovely dinner at Que Sera after maitre d' put the hard sell on us. Absolutely recommend. We also lucked out with nearly perfect weather & here before the leaf peepers.

"This cabin is small but has everything you need to relax after day trips and long hikes. The finishes and building materials used are all top notch. It's great that we were allowed to bring our large dog along. There is a stream behind the cabin, which makes for great background noise while enjoying the double decks. The only complaint we had is the dirt trail that leads up to the cabin. It was impossible to keep the kitchen floor clear of mud and grit. The dog had to be washed every single time he went out, which got annoying. I think I swept about 30 times in 3 days."

"Night one in Woodpecker's Hollow, a howling wind rages outside the cabin. A distant ghost whispers. ""Booooooooo!"""
Cecilia R from Columbia, SC - Posted: 4/5/2019

"My boyfriend and I were looking to get away and relax and Woodpecker's Hollow offered that and more! From the time that we walked in, we felt at home. The weather was great, the village right across the street, the stream that runs behind the cabin, and the lovely Biltmore Estate were great. We are sad to go but we are extremely happy that we have memories of a lifetime! THANK YOU!! P.S. Hope someone takes the fresh hydrangeas that we purchased during our stay! :) Again thank you!! We will be back! Oh yeah, no Ghost whispers!! :)"
