Adorable place!
Adorable place! Perfect spot for a girl and her pup to spend a long weekend. Close to great hiking as well as downtown Asheville, but I'm glad I left time to just lie in the hammock and read. Would book again.

We enjoyed staying at Heartwood Cottage!
The unit is small but cozy. The front patio is screened in making it very nice to sit out on and listen to nature or the rain. The horses are super cute and friendly. I just whistled and they came trotting up. They provided us with some carrots for them. Be aware that this is not a very walkable area. No sidewalks and very little light. But it is very peaceful. Also, make sure to screenshot directions or important info, the service isn’t great in Asheville’s surrounding areas until you can log onto their Wi-Fi. It is about 15 15-minute drive to the main downtown where the breweries are. The more popular trails are about an hour's drive in any direction, which is typical for Asheville. For pets, they have treats, poop bags, and a very nice blanket.

We really enjoyed our stay here for a few nights.
We enjoyed our stay here for a few nights. Close to town and near all of the trails you could want. We drove to DuPont one day and Pisgah another, both near enough to reach in under an hour. The privacy here was great and we enjoyed the horses on the neighbor's property. Would recommend it for a couple wanting to hide away during a stay near the mountains.

My boyfriend and our small pup had the most amazing and relaxing weekend at this place.
My boyfriend and our small pup had the most amazing and relaxing weekend at this place. It was easily drivable to all the great restaurants and breweries Asheville has to offer. The place was absolutely spotless and so comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!

We Loved the Horses!
We loved the horses. They had carrots in the back, and it was the coolest thing. It's a beautiful property, and we loved the tiny home vibe. Tucked away, quiet, and close to town.Great place and would stay again!

Amazing accommodation close to downtown Asheville
The Heartwood Cottage was comfortable and super clean, and Marisa is one of the sweetest hosts I have ever met! She was more than accommodating and even went above and beyond when she found out we were visiting for a birthday trip. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and very quiet! The front porch has a great hammock for book reading, and the back deck, while small, was perfect for morning coffee watching the horses. The house is literally 2 minutes from the parkway and 7 minutes from Asheville. If you are looking for lodging with great access to the city without actually staying in the city, this cottage is perfect!

Loved this sweet cabin in Asheville
Marissa’s cabin is spotless. We had a great time exploring the area and even better time coming back to the hammock, screen porch, fireflies and comfy bed. Thank you so much!

Perfect Getaway
This cottage couldn’t have been better for my husband and I. The location was ideal - very close to town and easy to get in and out of. The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed many hours on the front porch just relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the nature around us. The cottage was very clean on arrival and was the perfect size for the two of us.

Relaxing Stay
This cottage was the perfect location to relax and decompress. I loved sitting in the hammock on the front porch with my morning coffee. The bed is also the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in -I slept like a rock while I was there. The cottage is completely equipped with anything you could need for your stay. It was nice to be able to pack light and do laundry while I was there. The location was ideal to jump on the parkway to do some hiking and also minutes from town so I could shop and visit some breweries. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back to Asheville. And, as many others have mentioned, you can feed carrots to the horses!

Nature Retreat 15 minutes from Everywhere
We spent 5 nights here, home base for exploring Asheville neighborhoods. Calm, quiet, peaceful neighborhood. There is a larger VRBO home in front that was out of the way. Out back is a fenced farm with a dozen horses. Marissa left us carrots to feed the horses, and a couple were eager to amble over and enjoy the treats. A management company is used to handle some details, and they never responded, which is why I docked the manager experience by 2 stars. On arrival, I had no code to get in, and the manager did not respond. (Fortunately, a note with the code was viewable from the window, allowing us to get it.) Marissa the owner, on the other hand, was friendly and helpful. Another good part is that it was just a hop to get onto the highway, making all of Asheville no more than 15 minutes away. Lots of windows and light, a screened front porch, and a small, open back patio, added to the relaxation, while a full kitchen and washer and dryer made it practical. The bed was very comfortable, no problems with temperature control.

Great Couples' Getaway
The location and setting were perfect for my wife and I’s weekend getaway ahead of baby #2. Close to Asheville and the blue ridge parkway, but far enough out of town that it was super quiet.

Delightful Cottage
We stayed for several days. This cottage is off the beaten track, but close to everything you would want to see in the Asheville area. The cottage is ideal for a couple of people. It's very well equipped and managed by a local, quite competent person. You will be pleasantly surprised. FYI, you will have to schlep your own luggage from the parking area - across a gravelly area, up a few steps and across a rock pathway to the cottage. This shouldn't be a huge challenge for most visitors.

Loved the Heartwood Cottage
Our stay at the Heartwood Cottage was just right. The cottage had everything we needed on our visit to Asheville. It was close and convenient to everything we wanted to visit. We enjoyed the brewery’s of Asheville, hiked along the Blue Ridge Parkway and found new hikes in the area. We visited the North Carolina Arboritum and the River Arts District. All close by to this Cottage. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch in the evenings after long hikes. The Cottage was better then described. Even our four legged friend was welcome (he really loved the screened in porch). Can’t forget the horses in the pasture and the nightly bus from the wild turkeys.

Amazing stay in the best little cottage
This met everything we were looking for in Asheville. 10 or so minutes away from downtown but secluded enough you feel like you’re in the mountains. Turkey and horses in your backyard every day, plenty of room for your dog to run around and have fun. Cute little kitchen/ living area with a super comfy bed and an awesome front porch with a hammock. I would stay here again in a heart beat

Back Again!
This is our second time staying at Heartwood Cottage. It’s the perfect size for my husband and I for a weekend get away. The place is well stocked with the essentials you need. So quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed relaxing on the screened front porch and taking in the views of the horse pasture out back. Feeding the horses carrots when they walked up to the fence was a highlight! Marisa our host was just a message away if we needed her and kept in constant contact to ensure we had what we needed. The cottage is very convenient to downtown Asheville and surrounding areas, and an Ingles grocery store is just around the corner. We will definitely be back!
